All are welcome to attend these Lunch & Learn classes here at Noble High School. The series is free although a $20 donation is suggested for anyone under age 65. Please register so we can accurately plan space. All Caregiver Classes will be facilitated by a Caregiver Specialist from SMAA. 

We welcome Southern Maine Agency on Aging for a second semester. This group of professionals with over 800 trained volunteers has created a terrific series of lifelong learning opportunities for citizens throughout the southern Maine region.

Caregiving as a Family

March 12, 2018 from noon to 1 pm

When someone in a family needs assistance, we often find that not all family members agree about how, when, or how much to help.  Often, one person ends up taking most of the  responsibility, which can create issues. This class will look at families, and ways to work together better to help someone we care about.

Communicating with Healthcare Providers

April 23, 2018 from noon to 1 pm

This workshop will give you the insight and tools you need to participate as an effective member of your family member’s health care team.  Strategies for getting the information you need, as well as communicating to professionals will be discussed.

In the Middle: Solutions for the "Sandwich Generation"

March 26, 2018 from noon to 1 pm

Members of the “sandwich generation,” those assisting older family members while also raising children, face unique challenges as they try to balance caregiving, parenting, and often, working as well.  We will look at some roots of stress, and ideas for managing multiple demands, finding assistance, and taking care of yourself.

Advance Healthcare Planning

May 7, 2018 from noon to 1 pm

Advance Care Planning is important for all adults. It involves thinking and talking about future healthcare decisions in the event you are unable to make them yourself. Uncomfortable as it may be to think about, it’s wise to let others know your wishes with a formal plan to ensure they are honored. Learn how to select your healthcare agent and share your plan. This session will be facilitated by a trained Resource Specialist from SMAA.

Stress Management

In even the most loving families, providing care for another person can be stressful. This class will help you recognize the sources of stress, understand the impact stress can have on your health and wellbeing, and identify strategies to manage stress, so you can take care of yourself while providing the best assistance possible.

Please join us for an unbiased information session on Medicare Benefits. The session will be facilitated by State Health Insurance Counselors from the Southern Maine Agency on Aging. Learn more about Medicare Benefits and your options as you plan for the future. Or, revisit your current Medicare selections as you prepare for open enrollment later in the year.
