ACADEMIC COURSES 

Academic courses help students work towards their high school credential, or college/career training.  They develop skills in math, reading, writing, digital literacy, and workplace/college success skills.

COURSE/INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENTS

  • Credit-bearing high school diploma classes must be 45 hours, usually 3 hours, once weekly for 15 weeks

  • All academic courses are aligned with the College and Career Readiness Standards

  • New instructors are expected to complete a new teacher orientation 

  • A current State of Maine certification is required for all academic instructors

No classes on:

  • Labor Day

  • Indigenous Peoples’ Day

  • Veteran’s Day

  • Wednesday-Thursday of Thanksgiving week

Winter/Spring Semester

January-Memorial Day

No classes on:

  • School breaks in February and April

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
